What are you going to do?
As Growth & New Business Director at Hypersolid, you turn strategic credibility into new business. You don't sell a service line; you sell a way of thinking about complex business, technology, digital, and AI problems, built through real relationships with the people who decide. You carry a number and own it, building pipeline through credibility, content and network rather than volume outreach, translating what you hear in the market into concrete propositions and connecting the right people internally to make it happen.
Two things set this role apart. You sell on business value: framing a client's problem in their own numbers (margin, retention, cost to serve, time to market) and showing how a creative concept moves their earnings model. And you don't do it alone: you lead a Growth Pod, a small senior team that lands new work, pairing you with a strategic consultant who deepens the business case and a solution builder who turns the idea into a working proof of concept. You set the direction and pitch something that runs, not a deck; once it's landed and stable, you hand it to a client partner, freeing you to open the next thing.
What you own
Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders and decision-makers across sectors.
Translate market signals and client conversations into concrete propositions and pitches.
Lead commercial conversations from first contact through to signed engagement, winning new clients in Europe with the Netherlands as home market and one additional market you help choose from the UK, Belgium or Germany.
Represent Hypersolid at events, in publications and in industry circles.
Shape offers with strategists and delivery teams that are compelling, deliverable and commercially sound, pushing deals from time and materials toward output-based and subscription models.
Own and grow the commercial pipeline, with a clear view of where each opportunity stands.
Open new terrain inside existing clients (a new part of the organisation, a new proposition, a new workstream), separate from growth of already-contracted work, which sits with client teams.
Shape the two or three propositions you take to market with our capability leads.
What succes looks like
First 90 days: your target account list and lead propositions are agreed, outbound and network activation are running, you have a recommendation on the second European market with the case behind it, and a first signed opportunity, whether a new logo or a new workstream.
First year: new logos signed, net new revenue opened inside existing clients, a pipeline you can defend line by line, at least three concepts taken from idea to funded first phase, and a second market live with real opportunities in it. Targets run full-year, with an agreed ramp over the first two quarters.
Who you are
You're shaped in strategy or creative consultancy rather than a classic sales role, already the person colleagues hand the difficult client conversation to, the one who turns a vague ask into a proposition people want to buy. Whether you've founded something yourself matters less than whether you behave like it: you take ownership, build what's missing, and don't wait for a brief.
As a person, you bring:
Spot an opportunity in a client conversation before anyone else does, and translate a vague business problem into a sharp proposition and a defensible business case.
Confident with senior stakeholders, with the diplomacy to match.
Judge which creative concept will move a client's numbers, and have the honesty to kill the ones that won't.
Comfortable across sectors without needing deep vertical specialization.
Know enough about AI and digital products to be credible with clients and engineers, without needing to be technical.
Requirements
Completed WO or HBO education, or equivalent relevant experience.
10+ years in strategy, consultancy or a digital agency environment, with real commercial ownership.
Demonstrable new business you personally originated and closed, built through credibility rather than volume outreach.
Strategic craft of your own: you've built strategies and propositions, not only sold work others thought up.
Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and, ideally, C-level contacts.
A cross-sector network, or a clear track record of building one quickly; a network outside the Netherlands is a plus.
Fluent in Dutch and English, spoken and written.
Based in or near Amsterdam, with regular travel to clients and other offices.
